Flower show -Sat 27th June

The Flower Show is held on the last Saturday in June and has been an annual event since 1932.  Preparations for the event begin in October and some 400 programmes are printed, together with posters advertising the event and these are distributed free, from the middle of May onwards.

Judging then takes place at 10.30am on the morning of the show and the doors open to the public at 2.30pm where entry is 60p for adults and 20p for children.

Teas and refreshments are available as well as a raffle..  There are classes for Roses, Floral, Fruit & Vegetables, Floral decoration, Culinary, Handicrafts and Art, with special classes for younger contributors.

Special Awards are made to the best entrant in each class and a prestigious ‘Banksian’ medal is awarded to the entrant who wins the most points in the whole of the horticultural classes.  The profit on the event is passed on to the Village Hall and that usually exceeds £1,000 each year.
